Same with reverse, and that's why It would either freeze in forward, or neutral and wouldn't shift out of it. There is a nut and rod (pinion?) attached above the flywheel which the starter fits over. There are roller bearings inside the starter assembly which seem to fit over the rod/pinion/flywheel. Re: Parts for Gamefisher 15HP IMO , you should keep that motor and get your uncle to show you how to work on it . As a learning experience , it would be priceless . As to the economics of repairing that Force versus buying a running 15 hp , in my area they generally go for ~ $700 - $900 , depending on brand and year .

He adjusted the idle and carburator fuel mixture and got it running like a top. The water pump is working great and the engine is also.
